John Boyle passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. Rush, in Austin, Minn., April 1, 1908, at the age of 75 years.
Mr. Boyle was born in Sligo, North Ireland, in May of 1833. When about 19 years of age, he came to America settling in Newberry port, Mass., where he was married to Bridget Pie. Later he moved to Warren, Ill., and 35 years ago he came to Cresco where he has spent the rest of his life.
Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Boyle, two of whom survive: John F., of Boone, Ia., and Mrs. Anna Rush, of Austin, Minn. Mrs. Boyle died 24 years ago. He was married later to his second wife who survives him.
During his life in Cresco, for all these years, we have known him as a plain, honest, hard working man. He was well read and could talk intelligently on subjects of public importance. As well as he was known in this vicinity, just as well was he liked and respected by all. The memory of “Uncle Johnny” will live long in our minds.
The funeral was held from the Catholic church of which he had always been a faithful and devoted member, Friday afternoon, April 3, at 3 o’clock, Rev. Father M. A. McCarty officiating. He was laid at rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Transcriber’s note: The cemetery information shows his year of birth as 1836; however, the above says 1833 and his age as 75 years. The gravestone photo is hard to read.
