DIED.

MOON--At the residence of her son, M. M. Moon, in Cresco, Dec. 25, 1876, Mrs. Polly Moon, aged 87 years and 8 months.

The deceased was a native of Vermont, removing from there when quite young to the town of Gerry near Sinclairville, Chautauqua county, New York, from where she removed to the state of Ohio, many years since and after her marriage. Many years acquaintance with her enables the writer to testify to the nobleness of her character; the purity and uprightness of her life, and to believe that in death she has found a glorious immorality. She was the mother of a numerous family most of whom preceded her in crossing the dark and mystic river. The only two daughters, Mrs. Warren B. Hunt, and Mrs. B. D. Everingham died at New Oregon a few years since and rest from their labors in the cemetery there. Of the sons two reside in Iowa, be believe, Manly M. here and the Dr. at Iowa City. She was worthy of them, and they of so good and true a mother. For six or seven years she had been bed-ridden, through her general health had been passably good, with the complete loss of the power of locomotion. Her funeral was largely attended by the neighbors who had known her so long and by whom she was so justly beloved. Her funeral discourse was preached by Rev. A. S. McConnell from a text of scripture selected by herself, viz.: Rev., 14:13.

"Blessed are the dead who died in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works do follow them.
