John Fye passed away last Tuesday night at his home in Vernon Springs, after an illness of several weeks from dropsy. The funeral takes place this afternoon.

John Fye was born May 5th, 1844, in Center county, Pa. When eight years old, his parents removed to Wisconsin, and a short time later to Winnesheik{sic} county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. In 1873 he was united in marriage with Anna Kerst, who survives him. Ten children sprang from this union, five sons and five daughters, one son, while still a child, preceding him in death. From 1876 until his death, deceased had made Vernon Springs his home. About three months ago his health began to fail, and gradually growing weaker, his end came Wednesday last, May 15th, at 9 o’clock in the evening.
The funeral occured at his late home on Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. John Pless, assisted by Rev. Hill. Interment was in New Oregon cemetery.
