OBITUARY
MOORE.
E. B. Moore was born in Ridgeway, Orleans County, New York, in 1812. He was one in a family of twelve children, three girls and nine boys, all of whom preceded him to “the other shore.” On the 21st of September, 1841, he was united in marriage with Miss Adeline Demmon, at Medina, New York. Mrs. Moore died April 21, 1857, leaving a pair of two weeks old twin girls to grow up not knowing a mother’s love and care.
Mr. and Mrs. Moore came to Iowa in July of 1856, and settled on the farm where the mother died, where the surviving children grew to womanhood, which has been the family home more than half a century, and whence the subject of this sketch took his flight to the Great Beyond.
Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Moore, two boys and seven girls,-five of whom, the two boys and three girls, lie in the village burying ground at Bristol, Indiana. The survivors are Mrs. W. H. Alleman, Mrs. C. W. Farnsworth and Mrs. W. W. Johnson, of Cresco, and Mrs. J. W. Woodward, of Ellendale, North Dakota.
Mr. Moore was stricken with paralysis, Wednesday, and never regained consciousness; dying Friday evening, a little after six o’clock.
For ninety-five years he went forward doing what to him seemed just; quietly, patiently. Never making himself prominent, never shirking any duty or responsibility. A good citizen, a kind husband, a loving father.
The funeral was at the old home, conducted by Rev. Hinman, Monday, February fourth. The burial, in New Oregon cemetery, by the side of the wife who has waited his coming nearly fifty years.Transcriber's Note: Find-a-Grave shows he was born Feb. 29, 1812. However, it also shows he died Jan. 1, 1907 which doesn't agree with the above. Also his name was Eli Barnard.
