William Miller was born in Albany county, New York, Jan. 16, 1827. He was married to Angeline Fisher in 1850. Five children blessed their union, four of whom are still living, David of Albany, William of Washington, George of Cresco and Harrison of South Dakota. Mrs. Miller died in 1861 and Mr. Miller married Hannah Vannaten in 1862. To this union were born four children, three of them dying in infancy, and John, of Cresco, survives his father.
Mr. Miller came to Howard county in 1867, and has since lived here till death’s summons came quite suddenly Sunday morning. Jan. 7, 1906. He had almost reached the full allotted time to man upon earth, four score years. When a young man Mr. Miller joined the church and during his active days was a loyal member thereof. For many years he has been a member of the Cresco Baptist church.
Funeral services were held at the home of his son George where he had resided for a number of years. Service was conducted by his pastor, Rev. C. P. Kirby and the remains laid away in New Oregon cemetery.
