James Irvine, father of County Clerk, Eugene Irvine, died last Tuesday evening, at his home east of Lime. Springs. Although his death was rather unexpected he has been in poor health for over two years, occasioned by atrophy of the arteries. His funeral was held yesterday afternoon.

IRVINE.
James Irvine was born in LaPorte county, Indiana, April 5, 1837, and died at his born east of Lime Springs, Iowa, June 13, 1905, aged 68 years, 2 months and 8 days.
In October, 1866, he was married to Charlotte Prestor, who with four children, Eugene, and May, of Cresco, Ernest and Mrs. Frank Stevens of Lime Springs, mourn the death of husband and father.
Mr. Irvine was one of Howard county s pioneers, coming to the county in 1858 and settling on the farm which has since continually been his home.
He was one of the county’s most valued and trusted officials, serving two terms as county Supervisor, with credit to himself and satisfaction to the public.
The funeral occurred the Thursday following his death, and was conducted by Rev. U. G. Evans of the Lime Springs Presbyterian church. Interment was in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
