OBITUARY.
Eliza Greenway Marshall, youngest daughter of Henry Greenway, Esq., was born December 30, 1834, in Launceston, Cornwall, England, and was taken by her parents when a child to old Plymouth, England, where she was educated and came to womanhood. On July 4, 1860, she was united in marriage to Chapman Alexander Marshall and straightway emigrated to Iowa, settling on the ground now occupied by the stone house, west of town. She lived in the vicinity of Cresco until 1877, moving when her husband entered on the active ministry of the gospel to New Hampton where she remained until 1880. In that year she moved to Nashua, Iowa, living there until 1884, when she went to Clinton, Iowa. After two years in Clinton, she returned to Cresco for eighteen months until Mr. Marshall was called to McGregor, where many dear and kind friendships were formed, she remained until her husband retired again to Cresco in 1900 for the closing days of life.
Eight children were born to the deceased: Annie Jane, Mrs. Edith E. Nicholls, of London, England, Henry, who died in 1873, Anthony, Chapman Alexander, Florence Rose, Rev. Charles Greenway, of Brit, Iowa, and Gertrude Eliza. She lived to enjoy the blessing of twelve grand children. One brother, John Greenway, Esq., ex-mayor of Plymouth, Eng., survives.
At the age of seventeen, she united with the George St. Baptist church of Plymouth and has been a faithful and consistent church member even{sic} since.
She departed this life April 14, 1905, mourned by a wide circle of friends and relatives whose lives have been enriched and sweetened by her patience, her sweetness and her refined noble womanhood.
Very impressive funeral services were held from the house Monday afternoon at 2:30, and were conducted by Rev. J. A. Eakin of the Cresco Congregational church, and Rev. G. A Francis, pastor of the First Congregational church, McGregor, Rev. Francis paying a high tribute to the memory and loving, Christian life of the departed. The funeral was a large one, the large rooms being filled with sorrowing friends. The ladies of the Twentieth Century Club, of which the departed was a member, being present in a body. Those present from out of town were, Hon. Frank Larrabee and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Barron, Mrs. Dayton Benjamin, Miss Bessie Bell, McGregor.
The floral decorations were many and very beautiful.
Howard Marshall, C. I. White, L. T. Woodcock, Wm. Wilbraham, Wm. Blackburn and H. E. Lomas acted as pall bearers. Interment was in Oaklawn.

Mrs. C. A. Marshall of Cresco, wife of Rev. Marshall, one of the best known Congregational minister of this part of Iowa, died last Friday from the effect of a stroke of paralysis sustained some days before. The funeral was held Monday.

Transcriber’s Note: Oak Lawn Cemetery records show this was Eliza who was born in 1834.
