Obituary.
Hannah E. Haaf, whose maiden name was Mantz, was born near Watertown, Wis., February 3, 1851, and died at her home in Elma, on Thursday, Aug. 15,1901, of bronchial asthma and weakness of the heart, aged 50 years, 6 months and 12 days. Deceased came to Iowa in the winter of 1873, and on June 4th of the same year was married at New Hampton to P. J. Haaf. They lived on a farm a few miles south-east of here until July 18, 1900, when they moved to their present beautiful home in Elma, which they had hoped to enjoy for many years to come. But fate would have it otherwise.
She was the mother of ten children, four of whom preceded her to the realm beyond, but one son and live five daughters, with the father, live to mourn her death.
The funeral was held Sunday from the Congregational church in in Elma. The services were conducted in German and in English. Interment in the Elma cemetery.—Elma Democrat.Transcriber’s Note: Her gravestone in Howard Cemetery shows the spelling of her first name as Hanna.
