On the 31 of January 1882 he married Miss Hannah Kane, the ceremony being performed by Father Kearn at Cecelia. They were the parents of two children, Evelyn and Gertrude. Mr. Tierney was one of Howard county’s noble men. An honest, hard working man, he accumulated considerable property. He was fond of his family and desired to see his daughters accomplished. He took great interest in public affairs and was a strong democrat believing fully in the interests of that party. He was a faithful member of the Catholic church and died feeling prepared for the life to come.
Besides his wife and two daughters he leaves other relatives as follows: His father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. M. Tierney, three sisters, Mrs. J. M. Condon, Mrs. J. W. O’Neil and Mrs. P. Monahan.
The funeral was held in the Catholic church here Monday, Nov. 21st, Father Gunn officiating.—Elma New Era.
