Marjorie Brown, daughter of Mrs. Jennie Clemmer, died last Saturday morning of diphtheria at Minneapolis, and was brought to Cresco that evening for burial. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from Meverden’s undertaking rooms, Rev. Henriques officiating at the grave in Oak Lawn cemetery. The remains were accompanied to Cresco by Mrs. Clemmer, her sister and her son. They were intending to return home yesterday morning but Mrs. Clemmer was taken ill with the dread disease, and was removed to the Geo. D. Chryst home to be cared for by her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Chryst moving out for the time. Owing to the fact that Mrs. Clemmer met a considerable number at the depot and at the funeral, considerable fear of its spread is felt. While the shipment of the remains, enclosed as they were in a metallic sealed casket, was entirely safe and proper. It was decidedly imprudent of Mrs. Clemmer to accompany the remains, and we are surprised that the health authorities of Minneapolis would permit it.
