The Elma Vidette says: Since our last issue death has claimed two old and respected residents of this community, Mrs. Healey and Mrs. Forester, near Lourdes. We have no data for obituaries, but we are told that these old ladies were of the earth’s best, and counted their friends by the hundreds. Each lived to a ripe old age and did much good for humanity while traveling life’s journey. The sympathy of the community are given to the bereaved ones.

Mrs. Mary Forester died at her home in Lourdes, Iowa, January 29, 1904. She was one of Howard county’s oldest citizens, being about 91 years old. Mrs. Forester was born in Ireland and came to America about 55 years ago, settled in Waterbury, Conn. where she was united in marriage with Patrick Loughman. Two children blessed this union, Michael and Mrs. Kate Canfield, the later being with her mother during her illness and death, her husband and son having preceded her to the great beyond many years ago. Mrs. Loughman came to Iowa in the year 1864, settled in Howard county, where she met and married Michel Forester, who died in 1894. She has since lived alone with her little grand-daughter Julia Canfield. Besides her daughter and family, Mrs. Forester leaves many other relatives and friends who mourn her loss. She was a kind and loving mother and friend. May she rest in peace.
