LEWIS.
Samuel R. Lewis, who was among the first settlers of Howard county, died at his home at Hart, Oceana county Michigan, Feb. 24. The 4th of that month he had a stroke of paralysis.
The few of the early settlers of the county will remember Mr. Lewis, who located just east of Granger in this county, on the farm now owned by Mr. Brink. He was one of the intelligent men of the county, prominent in whatever promised to promote the prosperity of its people. He was a democrat, a patron and a friend of the PLAIN DEALER from its first issue in 1859 to the time of his demise, and never in arrears. Mrs. Geo. Reeves, of this city, is a sister of the deceased. His age was a few months over 74.
