Robert K ‘Bob’ Miller went home to be with the Lord on August 13, 2018 at Colonial Manor in Elma, Iowa.
Bob was born on November 2, 1923 in Cresco, Iowa to Ray and Irene (Noblett) Miller, the oldest of their seven children. He graduated from Cresco High School with the Class of 1941. Following graduation, Bob worked for REC, the Postal Service, Fred Riehle, and his family business, Miller Painting. On March 22, 1951 Bob was united in marriage to Maria Jane Appel at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. To this union two children were born: Wendie Ann and Dean Robert.
Bob always enjoyed working with his painting business and he and wife Jane had a large garden from which they sold tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, cabbage and zucchini. Together they sold many vegetables from their produce stand; which was at their home. In the fall and winter months Bob would always find time to watch a Hawkeye basketball game. Bob was very faithful to his Church, 1st Baptist, serving as deacon, trustee, usher and Sunday School teacher.
Survivors are his children: Wendie (Ken) Solomon and Dean (Fran) Miller, all of Cresco; three grandchildren: Erin Solomon of Holmen, WI, Jason (Ann) Miller of Cresco and Stacy (James) Tumpach of Cottage Grove, WI; five great-grandchildren: Carson Miller, Elijah Tumpach, Izzy Tumpach, Carly Miller and Silas Tumpach and a sister Sandra (Lacy) Jeffries.Preceded in death by his wife, Jane, his parents, Ray and Irene, his brother Donald Miller and sisters: Norma Albertson, Shirley Hass, Janice Herold and Betty Fravel.
Our family would like to say a special “thank you” to everyone at Colonial Manor for the excellent care and friendship for the last 2 plus years and also his “Buddy” Abbie Dunn, you were the best! We will never forget your kindness!!
