Obituary.
Anna Mary Blumenroeder was born August 20, 1831 at Denzlinger, Baden, Germany. When a little child she was baptized, went to school from her 7th to 14th year of life, and was soon confirmed. After confirmation she worked at different places for her livlihood{sic} doing housework. In 1855 she came to this country in order to find a better living. The 23rd day of April, 1856 she married Phillip Blumenroeder and moved with him on the farm six miles south of Cresco. This marriage was blessed with eight children, seven of whom are living to mourn the loss of their dear mother, one passing into eternity long before her. The 14th of January, 1880, her husband Philip died and she was left alone in the world with all the little ones, but she bravely faced life’s hardship and worked her farm with the help pf the children, and by God’s help succeeded in getting the farm free. In 1888 she moved to Cresco with her daughter Amatie, who became the help of the mother in her old age. During the last two years she was often sick with creeping paralysis. Since the end of March she lived with her son-in-law, David Baldner. The last five weeks of her life she had to be in bed constantly and suffered a good deal, but endured all pains with christian patience, and the last three days of her life she was unconscious and passed away Thursday morning quarter after six. With her a tender loving mother, and a true christian woman passed away. She belonged to the German Lutheran congregation of Ridgeway and afterward to the German Lutheran congregation of Cresco. She brought her life to 71 years and 15 days. The funeral services was held at the German Lutheran church, and showed that the deceased other was universally honored and respected and had the sympathy of a great many. The interment was at New Oregon cemetery, funeral services being held by her pastor Rev. C. Neidermeier. May she rest in peace till the great day of resurrection.

Transcriber’s Note: Her last name is spelled two different ways; however her gravestone shows Blumenroeder.
