Ted Rivers came up from Iowa City Wednesday to attend the funeral of his grandmother, Mrs. Rivers.

Mrs. Abram River died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James, and was buried from the Congregational church in Oak Lawn. She came to Howard county with her husband, Mr. Abram River in 1858, and they purchased from Dea. Thornburg that portion of his farm that was on the east side of the road, and the log house in which Mr. and Mrs. River lived until they went to the home of their daughter. Mrs. River was something over 75 years of age. Several children and her husband remain to mourn the loss of a good wife and a kind mother.

Transcriber’s Note; Oak Lawn Cemetery indicates she was born September 16, 1826 and died April 21, 1902 and that her name was Agnes. Also the spelling of the last name was River.
