Funeral services for Melvin Sebastian were held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 20 at First Lutheran Church in Cresco with Intern Anna Tews officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Melvin, 83, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco.
Melvin Sebastian was born November 11, 1918 in Cresco, the son of Leslie and Jessie (Bouska) Sebastian. Mel grew up in the Cresco area.
He married Lillie Bakken.
He worked for a Harley Davidson dealership in LaCrosse, WI as a mechanic until serving in the Air Force during WW II as a flight engineer. Upon his discharge he worked for Howard County doing road maintenance until 1953 when he started his own construction business and later starting Sebastian Welding and Machine which he owned and opearated{sic} until his dealth{sic}.
He is survived by four sons: Ron of Eldridge, Robert of Preston, MN, Roger of Salt Lake City, UT, and Rick of Cresco; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother: Donald of Cresco.
Melvin was preceded in death by his wife Lillie; and his parents.
