Services held tor William Samec
Funeral services for William Samec were held on Friday, March 15 at the Assumption Worship Center in Cresco. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Cresco. Honorary pallbearers were: Adam Samec, John Rasmusson, Gary Lienhard, Marty Hudecek, Lori Martinek Janelle Mahr, and Ron Milota. Pall bearers were: Chris Samec, Chad Samec, Brian Fogarty, Danny Polashek, Edmund Samec, Gene Peeinovsky, and Richard Samec. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
William, 86, died Monday, March 11, 2002 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco where he has resided since February 12, 2002.
William Clarence Samec was born June 20, 1915 southwest of Cresco in Howard County, the son of Frank and Barbara (Hron) Samec. He attended the rural school and helped out on the farms in the neighborhood.
On May 16, 1939 he married Anna M. Havel at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin by Rev. Vaclav Hradecky. He worked on the farm until 1966 when he went to work for Huntting Elevator. He retired in 1980.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Anna; four children: Norma Fogarty of Loxahatchee, FL, Kathy Polashek of Cresco, Adrian of Cresco, and Dennis of Lime Springs; eight grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.
William was preceded in death by one grandson; his parents; three brothers: Frank, Joseph, and James; and one sister: Mary Shock.
