Funeral services for Clifford “Bud” Johnson of Cresco were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 11 at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco with interment at a later date in the New Oregon Cemetery at Cresco.
Clifford, 74, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at Evans Memorial Home in Cresco.
Clifford Johnson was born June 22, 1927 in Fillmore County, MN the son of Monas and Vergia (Mensink) Johnson. He farmed near Spring Valley, MN until his marriage to Helen Hebig of Cresco on October 7, 1953. He was drafted into the Army and following his service worked as a police officer in the 1950s and 60s and was a former Chief of Police, more recently he was an electrician and plumber.
He enjoyed helping his children with home improvement projects.
He is survived by his wife Helen; his children: Leslie of Cresco, Neil of Maquoketa, Craig of Spencer, Mark of Cedar Rapids, Douglas of Des Moines, Dan of Meriden, Sandra Johnson of Des Moines, and Juanita Johnson of West Des Moines; 18 grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and three sisters: Myrna Krahn of Rochester, MN, Hazel House of Spring Valley, MN, and Livona Krahn also of Spring Valley, MN.
Clifford was preceded in death by a grandson in infancy; his parents; and a brother in infancy.
