Rena died Wednesday, February 20, 2002.
Rena Beatrice Ingersoll was born July l, 1904 in Perlee, the daughter of John and Sylvia Kyle. Rena graduated salutatorian of her high school class and attended Parsons College in Fairfield.
She began her high school English teaching career in Madrid where she met and married the football coach. In the 40s they lived in Blue Island, IL. During those years they became parents to two children and also reared two foster children, Richard and Guy Shramm, who came to them as teenagers.
In the 50s and 60s their family lived in Cresco. Rena was an English teacher and librarian in Harmony. She was often invited to be the keynote speaker at special community events, was a popular book reviewer, and was an active leader in the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Carnagie Library Board, and the First Congregational Church in Cresco.
In the 70s she and Ray retired and moved to Baraboo, WI. They enjoyed travel in the U.S. and Canada with their Winnebago camper. They moved to Colorado Springs in
She is survived by one son: Dr. James W. Ingersoll of Olympia, WA; one daughter: Gretchen Richardson of Colorado Springs; her grandchildren; and greatgrandchildren.
Rena was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 1990; two sisters: Irma and Winona; and one brother: Ellery.
