Irene Anne Hemrich, age 82, of Grundy Center, died of natural causes Thursday night, Dec. 5, at the Grundy Care Center in Grundy Center.
A Funeral Liturgy was celebrated for Irene Anne Hemrich of Grundy Center on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center. Rev. Dennis Quint was celebrant. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Grundy Center.
Born on June 21, 1920 in Elma, Iowa, Irene was the daughter of John and Mary Margaret (Morissey) Gaffey. She grew up in the area of her birth and received her education in rural schools. On September 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to Joseph Hemrich of Osage, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Osage before moving to Stewartville, Minn, in 1956. In 1967, they moved to Grundy Center, where Irene was a homemaker. She was a very loving and devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grundy Center.
Preceding her in death were her parents; three sisters, Lucille, Margaret and Kathleen; and five brothers, John, James, Art, Paul and Eugene.
Surviving is her husband, Joseph of Grundy Center; a son, James Hemrich of Grundy Center; a daughter, Candace Hemrich of San Francisco, Cal.; and a sister, Mildred Beery of Riceville; also 20 nieces and nephews.
