NEW HAMPTON - Thelma Bryan, 93, New Hampton, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002 at the New Hampton Care Center, New Hampton of natural causes.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton with Reverend David Bergstrom and Reverend Kevin Frey officiating. Edith Kolthoff will be the organist.
Burial will be in Howard Cemetery, Elma with Ed Bryan, John Bryan, Dennis Reaman, Ryan Buckendahl, Craig Buckendahl, Jack Whitinger and Joe Whitinger serving as casket bearers.
Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton and will be an hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Thelma Mae Bryan was born July 12, 1908 near Elma, the daughter of Jake and Clara (Shaffer) Whitinger. She was a 1927 graduate of Riceville High School and attended Hamilton Business College, Mason City. She was united in marriage to William Bryan in 1929. The couple farmed in the Summer, Riceville and Saratoga areas and later moved to New Hampton. Thelma worked as Postmistress at Kakac's General Store, Saratoga and taught country school for a short time.
Survivors include two grandsons, Ed Bryan, Joice and John Bryan, Leland; five greatgrandsons and a daughter-in-law, Marian Bryan, Joice{?}.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, William, in 1978; one son, William Jr. and two brothers, Art and Jake Whitinger.
