Martin R. Krahenbuhl, age 68, of Elma, Iowa passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Howard County Regional Hospital in Cresco, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, IA with Father Mark Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Highland Prairie Lutheran Cemetery at Peterson, MN at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, IA. Online condolences for Martin’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Martin “Marty” Roscoe Krahenbuhl was born on January 27, 1949 to Roscoe and Mabel (Torney) Krahenbuhl in Mason City, IA. After his school days Marty worked at several jobs in the Milwaukee area. Later he was united in marriage to Sheryl Bakkum on April 22, 2002 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. He managed the Blue Bird Bar in Elma where he was also the cook. Later he purchased and operated the Little Red Wagon Café in Elma until it closed in 2012 when Marty retired.
Marty enjoyed crossword puzzles, camping and being with family. Marty was a volunteer driver for the Menonite and Amish communities. He also enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.
Marty is survived by his wife Sheryl of Elma, IA; his children Tina Krahenbuhl, David Krahenbuhl, both of Milwaukee, WI; Ben, Cheryl (Patrick) Cook of Shawano, WI , Shannon Krahenbuhl (Michael) of Milwaukee, WI; Joshua Krahenbuhl of Sheboygan Falls, WI; and Kristin Krahenbuhl of Elkhart Lake, WI; five brothers Russell Krahenbuhl, Fred (Paula) Krahenbuhl, Allan Krahenbuhl, Charles (Carol) Krahenbuhl and Jim (Kim) Krahenbuhl; one sister Cindy (Douglas) Vimpany; stepchildren Sara (Jeff) Ptacek of Elma and Dean (Jodi) Bakkum of Cochran, WI, Les Gocha of Rochester, MN; grandchildren Martin, Daniel, Lisa, Thomas, Joseph, Benjamin, Andrew, Brianna, Savanna, Isabella, Elianna and Abagail; step grandchildren Zach, Betsy ,Tori, and Braxtin, brother-in-law Ed Burke, sister-in-law Gladys "Tiny" Krahenbuhl and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marty is preceded in death by his parents Roscoe and Mabel Krahenbuhl; son Martin Krahenbuhl JR.; sister Crystal “Sue” Burke; and brothers Lynn Krahenbuhl and Larry Krahenbuhl, sister-in-law Barb.
