ELMA -- Alan Joseph Sullivan, 48, Elma, . died Tuesday evening, May 15, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN after suffering a heart attack.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Elma, with Rev. Roger Rethamel officiating. The pall will be placed on the casket by his daughters. Offertory gifts will be presented by Angie Lenek and Nick Boyle.
Interment is in Calvary Cemetery, Elma, with Larry Friedrich, Lonnie Friedrich, Ron O'Donnell, Roger Paulus, Danny Biwer and Gary Ries as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Roger Gesell, Leroy Mohrfeld, Wally Fair, Chuck Riley and Adolph Ludwig.
Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Friday, May 18 at Larkin-Martin-Hugeback Funeral Home, New Hampton, where there will be a 4 p.m. combined Rosary Society and Knights of Columbus Rosary, a 7 p.m. Parish Scripture Service and a 7:30 p.m. Video Memorial Tribute. Visitation is also an hour prior to the services at the church.
Alan was born Aug. 10, 1952 in New Hampton, the son of Leo and Marie (Eckerman) Sullivan. He attended Immaculate Conception Grade School and was a 1970 graduate of Riceville High School. On May 4,1970, he married Ann Boyle at Immaculate Conception Church, Elma. Al farmed in the Elma area. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the American Legion Post. Al enjoyed fishing, bowling, softball, sporting events on television, helping friends and neighbors.
Survivors include his wife, Ann; two daughters, Alison (Brad) Holten, Cresco, Amy Sullivan and her fiance, Brent Leistikow, Tripoli; his mother, Marie Sullivan, Elma; two brothers, Mike (Betty) Sullivan, Fairbank, Bill (Diane) Sullivan, Protivin; two sisters, Barb (Leon) Hugeback, New Hampton, Susie (Gary) Cenek, Cresco; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was his father, Leo Sullivan on Aug. 25,1993.
