Funeral services for Harold Cotant were held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4 at the Conway Funeral Home with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery, both in Cresco. Rev. Henry Charipar officiated. Pall bearers were his nephews: Ronald Then, Mike Kintzle, Gary Winslow, Harry Winslow, Bill Ungs, Tom Ungs, Chris Cotant, and Craig Cotant.
Harold, 77, died Friday, August 31, 2001 at his residence in Cresco.
Harold Patrick Cotant was born February 27, 1924 in Chickasaw County near New Hampton, the son of Lewis W. and Leona (Ross) Cotant. He was educated in the rural schools of Chickasaw County and returned home to help his parents on the farm.
Harold was never married. He liked to garden, grow flowers, yard work and farming. He enjoyed going to sales, reading and watching television. Harold retired and moved into Cresco in 1994.
He is survived by one brother: James of Dubuque; and two sisters: Mary Ungs of New Hampton and Patricia Winslow of Davenport.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David.
