Memorial services for Esther Benson were held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22 at first Lutheran church in Cresco with Rev. Gary Lee officiating. Interment took place following the service at Calvary Cemetery.
Esther, 81, died Saturday, May 19, 2001 in her home at Kasson, MN.
Esther Irene Benson was born December 13, 1919 in New Hampton, the daughter of Henry and Emma (Marvin) Boehmer. She attended rural schools in the New Hampton area.
On September 7, 1938 she married John M. Benson in Lanesboro, MN. She raised her family in Cresco where she worked as a laborer and nurse. She later moved to Shakopee, MN where she was employed by Control Data Corporation for 15 years. She retired and moved to Kasson.
She attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson.
She is survived by three children: Bernard L. Benson of Edina, MN, Gordon E. Benson of Mantonville, MN, and Joy L. Torgerson of Fort Collins, CO; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one sister; and one brother.
