Obituary.
Ebenezer C. Evans, son of B. R. and Mary Evans, was born on the farm of his parents in this town, February 22, 1871, and died in Cresco, December 24, 1897. For more than a year he had been in failing health from pulmonary troubles, but had been about until within the past few weeks. He had spent some time in Arizona, with the vain hope of having his health restored. He was an honorable, upright, courteous young man, respected by all who made his acquaintance. His funeral was from the Methodist church Rev’d’s Shaffer and Holmes officiating at the burial service. The entire fire department, in uniform attended his funeral and followed his remains to their final resting place in Oak Lawn cemetery, the deceased having been a member of the hook and ladder company.

CARD OF THANKS.
B. R. EVANS AND FAMILY.
We desire to return our heartfelt, sincere and grateful thanks to the kind and considerate friends and neighbors who ministered to us during the sickness, death and burial of our son, also to the Fire Companies of the city for their remembrance and respect for his memory.

Transcriber's Note: The cemetery records indicate his first name was Abenezer and the gravestone shows Abe
