J. L. Mudica was born in Manchester, Indiana, December 23, 1854, and died near New Oregon, may{sic} 6, 1897, aged 42 years and 5 months,
He was married to Emma Knapp, at Versailes, Ind. October 1,1875, he was the father of 9 children.
In 1879 he moved to Iowa, and resided in Winneshiek county 5 years, then moving to Fayette county, staying there about 12 years, then moving to Howard county upon the farm on which he resided at his death.
He leaves a widow and a large family of children who have the sympathy of a large circle of friends, who attended the funeral from his late residence on Saturday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. F. P. Shaffer of the M. E. church, Cresco. Burial in New Oregon cemetery.
