Wm. Markham, living in New Oregon township, west of the old village of that name, lost an adopted son from diphtheria Thursday morning. The boy was about seven years of age and was in Cresco last Saturday, apparently well.

Transcriber’s Note: New Oregon Cemetery records indicate this was Herbert W. who is buried near his parents. He was born February 28, 1891 and died January 6, 1897.
