Grace D. Smith a daughter of Geo. Smith, of Chester died Oct. 11th 1896, aged 23 years and 8 months. After services at the M. E. church at Chester, the body was taken on the afternoon passenger train on the 13th to Oregon, Wis., to be laid beside her mother.

DIED—At her home north of Chester, Miss Grace D. Smith. The remains were taken to Wisconsin, their old home for interment. She has been an invilad{sic{ for some time. She has gone to the Savior she trusted and loved.

Obituary.
Died at her home near Chester, Iowa, October 11th, 1896, Grace D. Smith aged 23 years and 8 months. Grace Darling Smith was born at Oregon, Dane Co., Wisconsin. Jan. 11th, 1873.
On the death of her mother which occurred in 1885, the family removed to Chester, Iowa, where they have since resided. She was the second of a family of seven and since the age of fourteen has been for the greater part of the time the housekeeper, filling as far as possible a mother's place in the home.
Gifted by nature with a singularly attractive disposition and an unusual degree of talent she won many friends. Though in failing health for some time suffering incessantly and at times severely, she was always bright and cheerful, making so little complaint that her friends did not fully realize how serious was her condition.
Funeral services were held at the church in Chester, Tuesday October 13th, Rev. Bowder preaching from the text, “And there shall be no night there.”
She was taken, accompanied by her father and aunt, to Oregon, Wis., for burial beside her mother.
