Alvina Herbertine Gager, only daughter of Nelson and Mary Gager, was born October 25, 1863, in Orleans Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa.
When about 15 years of age; she united with the M. E. church at what is known as the Morgan church on the Ridgeway charge. She was an earnest, true hearted Christian, always willing to serve in the work of the upbuilding of the Master’s Kingdom.
Some years ago, immediately after her mother’s death, she moved to Cresco with her father for whom she was homekeeper until stricken by the malady which was the occasion of her death.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her aged father, one brother, Wesley Gager, and numerous other relatives and friends. She departed this life, October 22nd, after a lingering illness.
Funeral services, conducted by Revs. Kerwin and Gammons, were conducted at her home, Saturday, October 24tb, at 1 o’clock. Burial was in Oak Lawn.
