John Wiedeman was born in Adams township, Ripley county, Indiana, Feb. 1, 1857, and died at his home in Cresco, la., Oct. 3, 1914.
Mr. Wiedeman grew to young manhood on the old home farm in Indiana, and on the 6th of August, 1878, he was married to Anna Heibeck. The young couple spent the next six years on the same farm, when they decided to go west and moved to Iowa in September, 1884, and settled near Ridgeway, where they lived until a few years ago when they moved to Cresco.
To them were born four children, Anna of Cresco, George of Cavour, S. D., Harry and Edward, of Ridgeway, la. Mr. Wiedeman was converted at the Methodist church near Ridgeway and united with the church for the greater part of two years he had been in failing health. Some weeks ago, realizing that the end was not far off, he desired to have the sacrament administered to him, which was done and he declared his trust in Christ, the Saviour, and thus he awaited the transition.
He leaves to mourn his death besides the children already mentioned, a loving wife, three brothers and one sister, one sister having died at the age of five years, and a host of loving friends.
The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in charge of the pastor, Rev. Will Kirwin, and burial was at Oak Lawn cemetery.
