HOPPE.
Kathrine Derr was born the 15th of September, 1850, at Medard, Province of Rhenish Prussia, Germany, where she grew to womanhood. In 1866 her family immigrated to this country, settling at Lena, Illinois. In 1868 she was united in marriage with Ernest Hoppe, which union was blessed with 13 children, 5 sons and 8 daughters, all surviving her. From 1880 to 1895 she lived on a farm in Paris Township. In 1895 she came to live in Cresco where her husband died four years later. About a year and a half ago deceased made her home with her youngest daughter Sadie at Alta Vista, where she passed away quite suddenly at 1 o’clock in the morning, Thursday last, July the 9th. The remains were brought to Cresco and funeral services held at Immanuel's Lutheran Church last Saturday. Rev. Sohnhard, of Alta Vista, and J. Pless, her former pastor, officiating. Burial at New Oregon.
