Benjamin Offen was born in Kent, England, in 1825. He was the son of Benjamin and Mary Offen. He came this country in 1849 and lived in the state of New York for three years, removing to the state of Illinois in the year 1852. In July, 1854, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Anna Gray.
They removed to Howard county, Wa, in 1856. Four children were born to this union, three of whom living—Bennie E. Offen, Wilkins Offen and Mrs. Fannie G Mintey, one child died when nine years of age. He is also survived by his wife.
He died Saturday, May 23. 1914. Funeral services were held in the Congregational church at 2:30 p. m., on Monday, Dr. D. T. Robertson officiating.
The services were in charge of the Masonic lodge. Burial was at New Oregon.
