Deceased was born in Podbori, Bohemia, in March 1849 and in July, 1867, came to this country with her parents and settled near Spillville, Iowa. On Jan. 18th, 1870, she was united in marriage with Joseph Malek and that same year they moved on the farm in New Oregon Township. Howard county, where they lived nearly forty years. In Dec. 1909 they moved to Cresco, la.
She was the mother of nine children, all of whom, except one who died in infancy, survive together with her kind and devoted husband to mourn the loss of a kind and loving wife and mother. They are Mrs. Joseph Bouska, of Protivin; John, of Schley, James, of Schley, Mrs. John Lentz, of Spillville, Joseph, of Schley, Mrs. Will Hyde, of Schley, Mrs. James Ondrasek, of Schley and Mrs Lewie Biespiel, of Chicago, all of whom were present at her funeral except Mrs. Lentz who was unable to come on account of illness.
Besides those mentioned above, she also leaves 23 grandchildren, two brothers Joseph and Prank Hejlik, of Garner, la., and four sisters Mrs. Frank Reyhoos, of Duncan, la., Mrs. John Spalls, of Ridgeway, Mrs. Michael Malek, of Duncan, Iowa, and Mrs. Frank Ondrasek, of Spillville.The funeral services were held at the Holy Trinity church in Protivin,
