Kenneth Cooper, 93, of Lime Springs, Iowa passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2009 in Mission, TX.
Kenneth was born on July 27, 1915 in Kensett, Iowa to Ross and Edith (Barnes) Cooper. He attended Brookfield school #7 in Worth County, and graduated from Kensett High School. Following graduation he farmed at home with his father. He also worked as a hired farm hand for Raymond and Vivian Thoen.
He married Louise Kaduce on October 20, 1940. To this union two children were born, Roger and Norman. They moved to Lime Springs, IA in 1955 where he continued farming his entire life. Louise passed away in 1977. He then married Lois Weyers on October 5, 1985. He and Lois wintered in Mission, TX for 24 seasons. He was involved with the community and various church activities. He also enjoyed walking, and had a interest in old clocks, and John Deere tractorsHe is survived by his wife Lois of Lime Springs, IA, two sons, Roger (Karen) of Aberdeen, S.D., and Norman of Titonka, IA, a step daughter Jean (Bernie) Van Veldhuizen of Northwood, IA, stepson Gary Weyers of Lime Springs, IA, grandchildren, Scott (Susan) Cooper of Sioux Falls, S.D., Jill (Chad) Craven of Minnetrista, MN, Ross (Heidi) Cooper of Royal Oak, MI, Brock (Dana) Cooper of Des Moines, IA, Maggie Cooper of Ventura, IA, Jennifer (Gordy) Schmidt of Aberdeen, S.D., and Tyler (Melanie) Longtin of Easley, S.C., 8 step grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Doris Cooper, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Louise, two brothers, Charles and Warren, and a daughter-in-law Nola.
Cemetery:
Burial will follow services at the church at 3:00 p.m. at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Thornton, Iowa.Visitation:
Friends may call at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, IA from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday evening, and also one hour prior to services at the church.Service:
