Memorial services for George Speer will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday March 9, 2017 at the Greenleafton Reformed Church with Rev Roger Lokker. Burial will be in the Chester Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 P.M. Wednesday March 8, 2017 also at the Greenleafton Reformed Church.

George Speer, age 74, of Le Roy, MN passed away peacefully at his home with family and special friends by his bedside. Those that knew him knew he suffered silently with chronic pain for several years.

He was born April 24, 1942 in Cresco, IA to Elmer and Edna (Eggerich) Speer. He attended school in Le Roy, MN and on December 21, 1963 he was united in marriage to Marge Liverance at the Methodist Church in Spring Valley and together they had 4 children; Sheila, Craig, Corey and Russell.

George farmed for several years, he loved farming and the rural life. He was an avid horseman and enjoyed spending time with his horses. He later went to work for Featherlite Trailers delivering trailers all over the United States and Canada. He worked for Featherlite for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Marge Speer of Le Roy, 1 daughter Sheila (Jace) Ellis of Carthage, MO, 3 sons; Craig Speer of Virginia Beach, VA, Corey (Karen) Speer of Moyock, NC and Russell (Dana) Speer of Rochester, MN, 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother.
