CEDAR FALLS - Elmer W. Benson, 92, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 at Nazareth Lutheran Church Chapel, Cedar Falls with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Cresco. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, is assisting the family.

He was born Sept. 23, 1924 in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Oliver and Regina (Makepeace) Benson. He married Mildred I. Gunderson on Sept. 11, 1945 in Waterloo, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Feb. 25, 2007.
He attended Cresco High School and served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was employed for 36 years at Rath Packing Company in Waterloo, retiring in 1984.
Elmer is survived by a daughter, Patty Fratzke of Marion, Iowa; a son, Ronald Benson of Shorewood, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Todd, Scottie Ben, Sloan, and Nick Benson, Tiffani, Jacob (Sonya) and Mark (Molly) Fratzke and Tangee Sills; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great- grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Monique) Benson of Williamsburg, Va.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lee Benson, and two sisters, Helen Benda and Ella Jimenez.
