Rosella S. Fausnaugh, age 101 of Cresco, Iowa, and formerly of Lime Springs, Iowa, died Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Evans Home in Cresco, Iowa.

Rosella was born July 7, 1915 on a farm in rural Elma, Iowa to Charles and Mary (Bucholtz) Ball. She graduated from Elma High School and attended the Cedar Falls Teachers College (currently UNI). She married Ralph Fausnaugh on October 23, 1939 in Elma. Rosella taught elementary school for 31 years; first for 17 years in rural country schools, later retiring from the Howard-Winneshiek School District. Rosella played piano at local nursing homes and Cresco's senior meal center. She also helped with Howard Counties Fair Flower building. Rosella enjoyed traveling, fishing, gambling, and dancing to Polka, Waltz and Two-Step music. She spent much of her time volunteering at the Evans Home of which she was on the Care Review Committee. She was a member of a card club, flower club, Retired Teachers Association and a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and its' circles. In 2006 Rosella received from the State of Iowa the Governor's Volunteer Award from then Gov. Thomas J. Vilsack. In 2011 Rosella was Grand Marshal of Lime Springs Sweet Corn Days Parade.

Rosella is survived by three children: Dean (Betty) Fausnaugh of Laurel, Montana, Karren (Randy) Veil of Burnsville, Minnesota, Kay (Jim) Yanecek of Burnsville, MN; five grandchildren: Peggy Sue (Sean) Leary, Pamela Powers, Jacquelyn (Steven) Davis, Brad (Stephanie) Yanecek, Jill (Jim) Steffes; eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Rosella was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ralph; a son, Duane in infancy, five brothers: Orville Ball, Herman Ball, Albert Ball, Victor Ball and Lester Ball; four sisters, Laura Gaskins, Sally Pogose, Helen Carlson and Gertrude "Tootsie" Hedrick.
