Services held for Marie Zoeckler

Services for Marie Zoeckler of Davenport were held January 8 at Runge Mortuary and Crematory. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park.

Marie, 104, died Thursday, January 6, 2000 at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus in Davenport.

Marie Rose Zoeckler was born May 11, 1895 in Cresco the daughter of Gottfried and Lisette (Leuenburger) Lienhard. She was a clerk at several area bakeries in her early years, also a homemaker.

On June 18, 1918 she married Ray Howard, and they divorced. On August 29, 1952 she married Wilton Zoeckler in Davenport.

Marie was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport, and a member of Davenport Women’s Club. She enjoyed gardening, birds, cards and bingo.

Survivors include one daughter. Phyllis Sinksen of Rock Island; one son: Russell Howard of Sun City, AZ; several grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; one brother: Red of Ft. Pierce, FL; two sisters: Mina Batten of Davenport, and Charlotte Rink of Cresco.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband Wilton on December 13, 1970; her parents; two brothers: Walter and Otto; and one sister: Lydia Evans all of Cresco.
