Golda Irene Wentworth, age 89, of Brownsdale, died Thurs., Sept. 14, 2000 at St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin. She was born in New Sharon, Iowa on April 29, 1911, the second daughter of George and Elisa (Playle) Evans.
Golda moved with her family to a farm east of Riceville, Iowa and later to a farm northeast of Mclntire, Iowa where she attended school and graduated. She married Jess J. Wentworth July 12, 1932 in LeRoy. They farmed for awhile in the Mclntire area and moved to Brownsdale in 1945 where she clerked at a grocery store. Lafer she worked in the nursery at Johnson Floral in Austin until retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Brownsdale.
Survivors include sons, Charles (Jacquie) Wentworth of Minneapolis; Richard (Arlene) Wentworth of Rochester; daughters, Shirley (Charles) Ferguson of Austin; Dorothy (Jim) Nelson of Blaine; two step children; John Weptworth of Hurst, Texas; Mildred Byrd of Osage, Iowa; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Stephens of Wisconsin; Dorothy Jones of LeRoy. She was preceded in death by husband, Jess; her parents; two brothers; one sister.
Funeral services were Wed., Sept. 27, 2000 at First Baptist Church in Brownsdale, Minnesota with Pastor Richard Fessel officiating. Interment was at Wayne Cemetery in Mclntire, Iowa. Worlein Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
