from Elma library collection assembled by Marian (Marr) McGeeFuneral services for Mabel Linderbaum of Cresco were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 6 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. Rev. Bruce Robert officiated. Interment was in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Pall bearers were: Guy and Gwen Boeke, Allyn Linderbaum, Duane Gobin, Steve Linderbaum, Ronald Gobin, and Larry Shroyer. Lindstrom Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Mabel, 91, died Thursday, November 2, 2000 at the Regional Health Services alter a brief illness.
Mabel Ella Linderbaum was born November 14, 1908 in Minnieck near Postville, the daughter of Frank and Hermine (Martens) Linderbaum. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Her family lived neat; Postville until 1912. They then moved to Sandstone, MN where they lived for two years; then moved to Elgin, ND. Since 1922 Mabel has resided in the Lime Springs-Cresco area. She attended various country schools and graduated from the eighth grade.
She did housework for various families until 1961. Mabel quit to care for her invalid mother until her death in 1963. She then worked at the Cresco Bakery until 1965 when she started to work at Boeke Drug Store. Mabel continued to work until 1988 when she retired at the age of 80 years.
Mabel was very active in Immanuel Lutheran Church singing in the choir, participating in circle and Ladies Aid.
She enjoyed traveling and was able to go on many extended vacations, including her dream trip to Hawaii.
Mabel remained active until August 2000, when she moved (to the Evans Memorial Home.
Survivors include two brothers: Harold of Minneapolis and Elmer of Cresco.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Clara Weise, Ella Gobin, and Ruby Linderbaum; and two brothers: Arno and Harry.
