Paul H. Lidtke, 82, of Lime Springs, Iowa passed away at his home Wednesday morning, June 26, 2013. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lime Springs. Pastor Maureen Hagen will officiate.
Paul was born Oct. 24, 1930 at home in Lime Springs to Herman and Ruth Lidtke. He attended school in Lime Springs and graduated in 1951. He married Donna Stevenson and started their life together farming southwest of Davis Corners, where they happily lived for 52 years. The couple raised four children.
Paul loved sports and attended Riceville football games through the years. He was a 4-H leader, township trustee and volunteer at St. Paul’s and community of Lime Springs. He loved taking the grandkids fishing. He was always ready for a game of cards. Paul enjoyed woodworking and gardening. After retirement Paul and Donna moved to Lime Springs and wintered in Texas. In Texas he volunteered at school, the hospital and the park where they made their home.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; children, Nancy (Ken) Everman of Postville, Roberta (Rick) Hass of McGregor, Brian (Sheryl) Lidtke of Lime Springs and JoEllen (Tracey) Franke of Hanover, Minn.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister; and two brothers.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
