Paul Louis Trachta, age 93, passed away February 23, 2010 at his home in Chester, Iowa.
Paul was born to Louis and Mary (Pisney) Trachta on November 23, 1916, in Chester Township, Howard County, Iowa. He married Donna Mondt on August 16, 1955 at Assumption Catholic Church. They celebrated 54 years of marriage. To this union they were blessed with five children, Paul Jr., James, John, Joan and Jeanne.
He worked at home, for neighbors, Keune and Balk, Balk Lime and Ready Mix as a truck driver, loader operator and his first love as a catapillar operator. He was very proud of the land he cleared and farm driveways built 60 plus years ago.
He took great pride in a job well done throughout his life. Working for the cities of Cresco and Chester was an experience Paul enjoyed (especially after retirement).
He is survived by his wife, Donna; his children, James (Peggy) of Melrose, Wis., John of Chester, Joan (Lawrence) Greco of Hesper, Iowa and Jeanne (Marty) Brockney of Chester; 10 grandchildren, Jenny (Dusty) Trachta, David (Michelle) Baumbach, Troy (Angie) Baumbach, Bobbi Sue Conner, Melissia Greco, Kori Greco, Brandy Greco, Keeley Greco, Justin Trachta and Brandon Trachta; two great-grandchildren, Jada Conner and Gracie Baumbach; one brother, Louis (Mary Jo) Trachta of Vinton, Iowa; and one sister Elizabeth “Betty” Neubauer and two sisters-in-law, Celeste Trachta and Marlene Trachta, all of Cresco, Iowa.
Paul was preceded in death by his son, Paul Jr.; his parents, Louis and Mary Trachta; two brothers, Joe and Ray Trachta; and one brother-in-law, Vince Neubauer.
Visitation was held Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Conway Funeral Home. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Cresco, Iowa.
