Kenneth L. Boehmer, 78, of Alamo, Tex., formerly of LeRoy, Minn., died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 after a lengthy illness.
Kenneth was born May 1, 1931 to Frank and Mabel Boehmer of Lourdes, Iowa. He married Geraldine Reicherts on June 15, 1949 at Jerico, Iowa. They retired to Trophy Gardens in Alamo, Texas, five years ago after going there as snowbirds for 14 years.
Kenneth took pride in his job of almost 50 years. He worked at the Lime Springs and LeRoy/Ostrander grain elevators. He was always talking to the farmers, joking around and pulling pranks.
Ken’s family was always a major part of his heart. Ken and Geri’s door was always open for family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Geri; and children: Diane (Kenneth) Bill of LeRoy; David (Dianna) Boehmer of Genoa, Ill.; Larry (Betty) Boehmer of Wabasha, Minn.; Teresa (Kenneth) Hovde of Hammond, Minn.; and Barbara (Jeff) Hinz of Grand Meadow, Minn.; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also suvived by two brothers, Lyle (Patricia) Boehmer; Russell (Karen) Boehmer; one sister, Ethel Boehmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Scott, three brothers and three sisters.
Ken will be truly missed by family and friends. His smile will always be in our hearts.
A memorial Mass will be held Sat., Oct. 17, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in LeRoy. A luncheon will follow in the church basement. There will be no graveside service.
