Carol Casey died suddenly at home on Saturday, March 27, 2010. She was 89 years of age.
Carol A. (Gager) Casey was born in Cresco, Iowa on November 9, 1920, the daughter of H. Leslie and Margaret (Kaufman) Gager. She graduated from Cresco High School.
On November 1, 1939, Carol was united in marriage to Ronald M. Casey in Cresco. They made their home in Southern Minnesota for most of their life, while Ron worked for various farmers. Carol was a stay-at-home mom who raised her eight children. She enjoyed making quilts for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and listening to music.
Carol is survived by her children, David (Marylian) of Spring Valley, Minn., Thomas of Glencoe, Minn., Verna (Gareld) Stockdale of Spring Valley, Minn., Judy (Phil) Graves of Gifford, Pa., John of Lime Springs, Iowa, James of Elma, Iowa, Jason of New Richland, Minn. and Joseph (Missy) of Cresco; 27 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Jennie Hagen of Des Moines, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ron in 2002; one grandson, Newton Casey; three brothers, Donald, Walter and Verne Gager; five sisters, Evelyn Swim, Ellen Stevens, Thelma Rotte, Edna Sears and an infant, Marian.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Saetersdal Lutheran Church, rural Harmony, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Maureen Hagen will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Conway Funeral Home in Cresco from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.Source: Lime Springs Herald, March 30, 2010
