Sudden Death of Thomas James.
Our people were startled to hear late Friday afternoon that Thomas James had been found dead in the garage at his home near the school house.
He had been at work in his garage in the forenoon and after dinner announced that he intended to take his car out for a while. After an hour and a half had elapsed, a niece went out to the garage to see what was detaining him, and found Mr. James lying dead on the floor at the rear of his machine, the engine still running and the garage filled with gas. Mr. James had evidently started the engine to warm it up, put one chain on a wheel and was at work on the other chain when either stricken with heart failure or overcome by the poisonous gases coming from the exhaust of the engine. The doctors gave their opinion that he had been dead about an hour when found.
An obituary of the deceased appears elsewhere in these columns.
