Dorothy Kupka, 73, of Cresco, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, Iowa.
Dorothy was born December 1st 1941 to Frank and Alice (Mohs) White in Cresco IA. She and her family lived in rural Spring Valley, MN. Dorothy attended Country School until the 8th grade when her family moved to rural Cresco and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1959. In 1965 she married David Kupka. Together they had two daughters: Deb (Jeff) Turner, Saude, IA and Dawn (Joe Shileny) Iverson, Decorah, IA. The two later divorced.
Over the years Dorothy worked at several places including Skelgas (bookkeeper), Bob Davidson Yamaha (bookkeeper), and South Side Elementary School (secretary). In 1977 she began working as a bank teller at Cresco Union Saving Bank where she retired from, after 29 years of service, in 2006. In her 'spare time' she enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and spending time with her kids, grandkids, & friends. After retirement she also enjoyed spending her days volunteering. She was associated with many organizations such as Howard County Hospice, Evans Memorial Home, Cataracts Clinic at the Howard County Hospital, Wa-Tan-Ye, RSVP, and was actively involved in her church. She also enjoyed her part time jobs at the Howard County Extension office, as well as working in the fair office during the week of the Howard County Fair.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents Frank & Alice, one brother Dean White, and beloved Aunt and Uncle Donny & Betty Mohs. She is survived by her daughters: Deb (Jeff), Dawn (Joe); Grandkids: Derrick Barron, Ames, IA, Kacee (Jonas) Schwickerath, New Hampton, IA; Siblings: Jerry White, Lime Springs, IA, Vicki White, Cresco, IA, Gary (Laurie) White, Billings, MT; one Sister-in-law, Joanne White, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
