Harlow S. Orton, Chief Justice of Wisconsin, died at his home in Madison, July 4th from heart failure, due to kidney troubles and other complications. His end came very unexpectedly. He had been well up to within an hour of the time he died. He was born in 1817 in New York state and became Justice of Wisconsin in 1878. A widow and four children remain to mourn his death. The deceased was a brother of Mrs. J. J. Mason of this place, his death leaving her the sole surviving member of once large and talented family among which were several great lawyers.
