Red Wing, Minn. - Donna Marie Cooper, age 88, of Red Wing, Minn. died Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, at the Seminary Home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2015 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, Minn. with Reverend Betsy Dartt officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to the church or the Spring Valley Garden Club. Arrangements are by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com .

She was born June 14, 1927, in Chester, Iowa, to Daniel and Amelia (Zeiner) Jorgenson. She graduated from Chester High School in 1945 and went on to attend Macalester College in St. Paul and Hamilton Business College. She married Keith Cooper on May 16, 1948 at Bloomfield Lutheran Church and they lived in Spring Valley, Minn. For many years, Donna volunteered at the Spring Valley Nursing Center, for Meals on Wheels, and for the Readers Theater, where she performed plays for grade school children. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Spring Valley Garden Club. For 20 years, she served as the Spring Valley Township clerk and was active with the DFL party. Donna was an independent woman and took many bus trips traveling throughout the U.S. and meeting new friends. Although independent, she wasn’t usually without a furry companion in her life and had many dear pets, both dogs and cats.

Her family will remember Donna’s special love for poetry, both reading and writing it, and her love of the holidays, as she enjoyed having her family together and they enjoyed her fine cooking and baking—especially her pies, buns and cakes. Being she was born on Flag Day, she also enjoyed co-celebrating her birthday with this holiday and was never without a flag proudly displayed in her yard.

She is survived by her two children, Connie (Brian) Larson of Cassville, Wis. and Mark (Marsha) Cooper of Red Wing; two grandchildren, Benjamin (Maria) Cooper of Independence, Minn. and Derrick (Sandi) Cooper of Minneapolis, Minn.; and three great-grandchildren, Linden, Evan and Lane Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith in 1986, and her parents.
