Clifford Hauser entered this world on September 16, 1918 to Lester and Jessie Hauser in Van Horn, IA. He was the second of 7 children - Dorothy, Cliff, Vaughn, Orville, Donna, Gerald, and Bob. He graduated from Urbana High School, Urbana, IA. in 1936 as Salutatorian.
He found a love of music while in high school learning to play the trumpet in the school band program. It became a life-long passion for him. After playing in the family band "The Wapsie Valley Cowboys" in young adulthood Cliff continued to play with various bands in Eastern and Southern Iowa throughout his life. He could play almost any genre but had a special love of Western Swing played in large ballrooms and old standards. One of his finest solo pieces was "Wonderland by Night", a favorite of his children. He played taps at hundreds of military funeral services throughout his life - to pay tribute to those who served when he was not accepted due to not meeting a health requirement.
Cliff married Helen Eggers in 1940 and they had three children - Thomas, Wanda (nicknamed Toni) and Susan. Following Helen's death in 1952 he became a single father filling the role of both parents.
Employed by Skelgas, a division of the Shell Oil Co., in Cedar Rapids he was promoted to store manager in 1957 and he and the two girls moved to Creston, IA. Son, Tom, had joined the Navy by that time. Cliff happily remained with Skelgas until his retirement in 1981.
In 1971 he met Margaret Dougherty and they were married December 17th of that year in Indianola, IA. Another job transfer job with Skelgas moved them to Cresco, IA in 1973. He and "Maggie" enjoyed 42 years together until her passing in 2014.
Cliff was an avid fisherman and had many a tall tale to tell of his annual excursions to Minnesota and Canada with family members and friends for over 75 years - never missing a one. He especially looked forward to trips to the Mississippi River and area locations with his Cresco fishing buddies. He and Maggie also enjoyed several winters spent in Port Aransas,TX where they made lifelong friends. Cliff enjoyed golf, hunting and other sportsman activities as well as gardening and cooking and could cook up a mean dish of delicious homemade noodles.
Cliff was perhaps known best for his outgoing friendly personality. When he had a story to tell you knew you had better find a seat since it could take a while.
He and Maggie loved to travel and he especially loved a trip to Germany in 2003 with his daughter, Wanda. He spent the last few winters in California visiting his son Tom and Sharon and family and daughter, WANDA.
In 1975 he and Maggie became members of the Cresco Community Chapel and he was baptized at Vernon Springs at the age of 85 years.

Following a short battle with cancer Clifford went to join his Lord on July 7, 2015 in his home with his four children at his side. He joined his parents and siblings Gerald, Orville and Dorothy who proceeded him and both Helen and Maggie. Remaining are his brothers Vaughn and Bob from Cedar Rapids and sister, Donna from Hemet, California. Also left behind to carry on his love of life are his son Tom and daughter-in-law, Sharon from Menifee, CA, daughter Wanda and son-in-law, Tom from Carlsbad, CA and daughter Susan from Coral Springs, FL. He also was cherished by his 8 grandchildren, April, Amy, Autumn and Shane from California; Dave from Kansas City, MO; Shellie from Nantucket, MA and Paula and Nicci from Florida, sixteen great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.
